Reading Passport
Your child will have a reading passport stuck into their homework book, to enable them to complete their reading challenge. This includes completing book reviews: your child's teacher will give them templates but it is also okay to get creative and make your own! Here are a few ideas and a copy of the passport itself:
White Rose Maths Home Learning
We use White Rose Maths to teach our children in school, and free homework books are available here. You can also download them free for Kindle from here: https://www.amazon.co.uk/s?i=digital-text&rh=p_27%3AWhite+Rose+Maths&stext=White+Rose+Maths
Handwriting
Early Years & Year 1
To progress in their handwriting, children must have 'functional pencil grasp'. That means that they hold their pencil, pen, or implement in the correct way. It is very important you correct this when your child draws, writes or paints at home- you can read top tips here.
In the Early Years and Year 1, the children focus on letter formation based on Read Write Inc., using images and words to encourage correct letter formation. You can watch videos of each correct letter formation here.
Another big focus at this age is finger spacing. Your child should use their finger to remind them to leave a proper space after every word.
Year 2-6
We use the programme Letterjoin for our children's handwriting for Year 2 -6. You can access this programme online at home!
To log in, you will need our school login details:

Phonics
What is phonics?
Where should my child be in phonics?
How can I help my child with phonics?
The most important thing you can do is read the phonetically decodable books (books which can be read by a child using their phonic knowledge) which are sent home with your child. To check you are pronouncing the sounds correctly, please watch this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TkXcabDUg7Q
