Admissions FAQs

Admissions FAQs

Application Information

Q. I would like to apply for a place at Slade Green for my child, what do I have to do?

A. You will need to name Slade Green as one of your preferences on your local authority common application form which is known as the CAF. You will need to name all of the schools that you would like your child to be considered for on the CAF regardless of the local authority that the school is in.

Q. Where can I get the CAF?

A. The CAF is available from your local authority (to where your council tax is paid) website.

Q. It is my intention to name Slade Green as the first preference on the CAF. Will this be taken into to consideration?

A. No, only the local authority is aware of the applicant’s preferences, Slade Green considers all applicants under the published admissions criteria.

Distance

Q. Where is the distance measurement taken from?

A. Home to Slade Green distance will be measured as the direct line distance between the pupil's home address to the primary school in Chrome Road. Proof of residency will be required if a place is offered.

Dual Residency

Q: My child lives equally with both my partner and myself at different addresses, what address will you consider?

A: In order to ensure equal opportunity to all applicants, we can only consider the address that is on the CAF and this is normally the address of the parent who is in receipt of the child benefit or child tax credit.

Q. I live close to Slade Green and I know children who live further away from my address who attend Slade Green, does this mean that my child will definitely be offered a place?

A. No, as all applicants will be considered under the published admissions criteria.

Sibling Criterion

Q. I have twins applying. If one is offered a place will the other be offered under the sibling criteria?

A. No the sibling criteria does not take into consideration twins applying at the same time. They will be considered as individuals.

Q. My child is applying for Reception and has a sibling who attends Crayford Academy; will he/she be considered under the sibling criterion?

A. No, in order to be considered under the sibling criterion your child would have to have an older sibling who is on roll of the primary school (see definition below):

Pupils who on the date of application will have a sibling (i.e. a natural brother or sister, or a half brother or sister, or a legally adopted brother or sister or half-brother or sister, or step brother or sister who will be living with them at the same address) who is on the roll of the academy. Pupils will be considered under this criterion if they have a sibling who meets the above definition and who will continue to be on roll when the pupil joins the academy. Proof of the sibling relationship will be required if a place is offered.

Q: My child has a sibling at Slade Green will he/she be guaranteed a place?

A: Only if there are not more siblings than there are places available.

If there are more siblings than places, then the distance criterion will be used as a tie breaker to determine who will be offered the places available.

Q: If my child has a sibling at Crayford Academy, Crayford Primary, Knights Academy, Knights primary, Hatcham College, Hatcham primary or Hatcham Free School  and I would like to apply for Slade Green, will they be considered under the sibling criterion?

A: No, they will only be considered under the sibling criterion if they have a sibling on roll of the school they are applying for.

Q: My child is in year 6 will my other child be considered as a sibling?

A: No – as they will not be on roll when their sibling joins Slade Green.

Medical & Social Needs

Q. How do you consider who to offer the medical & social needs places too?

A. The application will need a supported letter from a hospital consultant, social worker or a similar someone in a similar profession. A copy of this letter would need to be shown to the Local Authority. “The information should demonstrate why the school is the only school able to meet the child’s specific needs.” A medical and social committee will review the documentation and make a professional decision as to whether the school is the only school able to meet the child’s needs.
